Aims and principles of breeding.
I have often thought about the aims and principles of breeding, as I don’t have to breed I will only do pairing when I am convinced of them.
Of course the Briard has to be in accordance with the standard but titles are of no real importance to me.
What is of importance though is the longevity of the dogs ( there are some breeding lines where 14-16 years are absolutely possible), no overly long hair and a good texture of the coat ( which makes taking care of the coat a lot easier) and a friendly,open character.
On health I attach great importance as well, and so I try only do pairings where I hope for a healthy offspring in regards to HD, ectopic ureters etc. Of course things can not run smoothly all the time and sometimes you may have to accept a set-back. But as a breeder I do my utmost.
